ruins and refashion

dear friends, what have you been up to lately?
I did a refashion of a hand-me-down dress from my friend Linda. She is moving to Taipei, so she saved a big bag of her clothes for me.

The original dress looks rather ill fitting for me, and it clings to my body at all the wrong places. The long tight sleeves also felt very uncomfortable. So I snipped off the sleeves and did a diagonal cut along the bottom of the dress to make an asymmetrical top. It's a NO SEW! The best part about jersey fabric is that they don't fray. Easy as a pie refashion.

do you see beauty in ruins?

Bershka  dress (hand-me-down, refashioned)
thrifted H&M jeans ($3.50, Salvation Army sale)
Charles and Keith shoes ($14.90, sale)
Mphosis cuff ($2, sale)
Mphosis necklace ($5, sale)

this house looks like a place for kidnappers, kind of creepy...yet beautiful because of the ruins

does pillar and ropes ring a bell?

Happy weekend!

  1. I love your DIY top, that's a fantastic result the top looks great, I prefer it as a top instead of a dress.

Your photo location is beautiful too - old ruins fascinate me! I found a ruined house the other day when exploring with Cooper but I was too scared to go investigate.

  2. That top looks great on you. Do you mean all you did was cut it and nothing else? Wow. I guess even I could do that. hehehe

  4. It is a great refashioning Mongs !
You are truly inspiring me to do something similar, because you completely changed the shabby looking outfit into something chic. Full marks for wearing a red pant -it added more substance to the dull colored top. The accessories are very fashionable and modern.
You said that you did not sew the dress-So, now I am getting some ideas from you-I can cut any jersey dress and refashion them without sewing !
    Have a lovely day !

  11. This looks so cute on you! I really like the result, it's awesome. And it looks awesome with the red pants.

I think there is beauty in ruins - we have a museum here in MN that is built around an old building that burned down and they left some of the ruins and I think it's a neat place to explore.
